*MEMBER SPOTLIGHT*
Nic has been a huge part of Big Rock family for years now. He definitely helps make the morning classes fun. Always laughing and cheering on his fellow mates. Nic really shines in the cardio department (top fastest runner in the gym!) but has really succeeded in the skill movements and lifts as well. So happy you’ve stuck with this Nic, and here’s to many more years! Here’s how Nic started…
“In 2019 I was whining to my friend, Greg Larson, how much I hated going to the gym as I “…never know what to do, no one’s there to help and the bro culture is not my scene…” so I just don’t go.
Greg said I should try something called “CrossFit Big Rock” that combines cardio, body weight exercises, gymnastics, and weightlifting. But best of all, you don’t have to know how to do anything! You just show up to a class and the coaches guide you through a warmup, teach you how to perform each of the movements, help you modify based on your needs and abilities, and most importantly, keep you safe.
“I go at 7AM most mornings. You should join me!”
7AM? I barely get out of bed before 8:00! How will I get to the gym in time for a 7AM class!?
“Try this,” said Greg. “Buy a one-month pass and commit to attending two 7AM classes each week across the month. I’ll join you for each of them. At the end of the month, if you decide it’s not for you, no worries. But my hunch is you’ll love it.”
Well, Greg was right, and I’m on track to hit my 1,000th class by the end of this year. 7AM is my new happy place and unless I’m travelling (or injured, or sick) you’ll find me there four days a week.
Over the years I’ve found myself most drawn to cardio and body movement exercises and am proud to have finally cracked the 40-minute Murph and 100 unbroken double-unders! I’ve also made great friends and feel part of a positive and supportive community.
I’ve yet to see the illusive “big rock”, but thanks to Corey, Tess and the fantastic coaching staff, I have certainly found the “CrossFit”. Five thumbs up!”
